Should Gospel Singers Collaborate With Worldly Artists?

As a sold out gospel artist, I pondered this question because it was brought to my attention that a famous, young gospel artist did a collaboration with a secular rapper. This rapper is known for explicit showcases of her body and rapping. Personally, I don't listen to rap music, so I did not really know what this rapper was about; other than the few things that may flash across the television or ads on the internet. I took it upon myself to go and listen to some of her music. It was nothing that represented my God, and that is just being truthful. Now let's take this matter to the word of God. 1 John 2:15-17, says "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever." Viewing the rapper's past music videos to her latest ones, I can say she represents everything of the world. Ephesians 5:11 states that we should take no part in unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. Well, I haven't viewed the video with the gospel artist that collaborated with the worldly rapper, but the question I pose is, "Is the works that she doing unfruitful?" "Do you think that someone will actually come to Christ or be spiritually encouraged by the collaboration?" The bible also says that you should not let your good be evilly spoken of. I have heard many negative connotations about the gospel artist collaborating with this worldly rapper. She's not the first, and I'm sure she won't be the last. My personal view on this matter is that we are responsible for every deed that we do here on this earth, and if one can perform an act and believe that God is pleased with it, more power to you. It isn't about what men think about us because salvation is personal. This gospel artist should have a relationship with Christ, and just maybe God gave her the Okay to do the joint performance. I do believe that God can use anything and anyone for his glory. I hope he gets the glory out of this collaboration. I try to always keep an open mind, and try not to react without thinking things through first. Let's give the sister the benefit of the doubt. Trust me, I know some of these gospel artists do sell themselves to the enemy for that "root of all evil", but hopefully, this artist hasn't. I want to hear your thoughts.
